Cowboys Giving Bryan McCann Another Look

McCann appeared in 11 games for Dallas between 2010 and 2011

There are no plans to sign him at the moment, but as of this week, the Dallas Cowboys were at least giving some consideration to the idea of bringing defensive back Bryan McCann back into the fold. McCann, who appeared in 11 games with Dallas between 2010 and 2011, worked out in front of Cowboys coaches at Valley Ranch on Thursday.

Whether or not the SMU product McCann is the one, Dallas has an open roster spot to fill between now and their week six matchup with the Ravens in Baltimore, having released DB and special teams specialist LeQuan Lewis earlier in the week.

After being released by the Cowboys--the team that picked him up as an undrafted free agent out of college--McCann joined the Oakland Raiders, with whom he appeared in seven games. He appeared in one game with the Baltimore Ravens before once again becoming a free agent.

Currently, the Cowboys’ defensive back corps. is made up of cornerbacks Brandon Carr, Morris Claiborne, Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick, and safeties Gerald Sensabaugh, Danny McCray, Matt Johnson (who’s still hurt) and Eric Frampton.
