LB Sean Lee Slims Down

Lee is around ten pounds lighter than he was a year ago

Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee is around ten pounds lighter than his 2012 listed weight of 245, a move that was motivated, in part anyway, by the team’s move from the 3-4 to the 4-3 under defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

“In the past, it was more of me trying to put weight on and keep weight on, whereas now, it’s probably more of my natural weight where I feel comfortable,” Lee said, per ESPN Dallas. “Whatever weight you feel comfortable at where you feel like you’re running well, that’s what I want to be at. That’s what I feel comfortable at right now.”

While Lee is playing lighter, a change that will help him in coverage, he doesn’t believe he’s lost any of the strength necessary to go head-up against blockers. Which is a good thing. After all, it's worth remembering that Lee may have been on his way to a Pro Bowl before suffering a season-ending toe injury last year.

“I’m a big believer in being able to move in space. However light you need to be to move the way you want, that’s where you need to get to,” Lee said. “As long as I’m strong and I’m healthy and I’m running well and I feel like I can take on linemen and take on fullbacks, then whatever weight I’m at, I’m not too worried.”
