Newy's 1st Round 2017 NFL Mock Draft Recap

The first round of NFL Draft is fun to mock. Fans like to read them. I did one, so let’s dive into a review of it.

I ended up getting seven of the picks to teams right. I didn’t nail defensive end Taco Charlton to Dallas. I had him going Tampa Bay. Only one mock draft I read before the day of draft had Charlton falling to Dallas: Pro Football Focus and Steve Palazollo told me why here.

NBC 5 Sports Director shares his thoughts on Taco Charlton and why Jason Garrett chose the Michigan edge rusher.

I ended up getting the following seven draft picks right:

1. Myles Garrett to Cleveland
2. Solomon Thomas to the 49ers
3. Leonard Fournette to Jacksonville
4. Christian McCaffrey to Carolina
5. Garrett Boles to Denver
6. Jarrad Davis to the Lions
7. Takk McKinley to Atlanta

I hate I took John Ross of my original mock draft to the Bengals. That is where he went. I could have nailed eight.

Why did I miss on Taco Charlton? I thought he would go a lot higher in the draft. So did he. Charlton said he is going to have a chip on his shoulder because he felt he was worthy of being selected higher than 28th overall in the first round.

He replaced Mickey Mantle. Now Art Schallock, baseball's oldest living major leaguer, is turning 100

NBC 5 Sports Director Newy Scruggs reveals his take on the Dallas Cowboys' game plan for Friday, round two.

The Cowboys need his pass rushing skills and Charlton says he feels good about working with Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli.

“He was just telling me if I was ready to work and letting me know when I get here that it would be time to work, and that’s something I’m already looking forward to," Charlton said. "I’m happy that Dallas took me, and I couldn’t be happier to be in the position that I’m in to be coached by a great coach. He coached Julius Peppers in Chicago, so it’s definitely a chance that I’d love to get.”
