Melton Excited For Return to Chicago

Henry Melton spent his first five seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears

Thursday marks a big day for Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton.

Melton spent the first five seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears and, on Thursday, he’ll return to Soldier Field for the first time in the blue and silver of the Cowboys.

“I’m not going to say it has been circled, but I’ve been looking forward to it,” Melton said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I still know a lot of players up there, a lot of good friends. So, yeah, it’s going to be good to see them.”

The Bears let Melton walk after he suffered a torn ACL in the third game of the 2013 season, and the Cowboys--Melton’s hometown team--signed him to an incentive-laden one-year deal, with a team option for an additional three years.

After getting off to a slow start in 2014, Melton leads the team with five sacks through 12 games.

“That’s how it goes. It’s a business,” Melton said. “One day you’re a franchise player and the next year you’re gone. It’s not hard feelings. Chicago is a great place. It’s cold but the fan base is passionate like it is out here. The city as a whole and everybody there, I had a good time.”
