Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden was on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list for the first 11 practices of training camp, but as of this weekend, heโs finally on the field.
McFadden joined the team on Saturday as a full participant in the morning walkthrough as well as the later practice. He had been on the PUP with a hamstring injury that he suffered while running routes the week before the team convened for camp in Oxnard, CA. Before that, his offseason was hampered by a different hamstring injury.
โItโs very hard. Iโm the type of guy who wants to be out there with my teammates and seeing how they grind the way they do, I want to be out there and be a part of that,โ McFadden said, per the Dallas Morning News. โIโm happy to be back out there on the field and Iโm just looking forward to getting out there and just being better every day.โ
In his down time, McFadden stayed up with his conditioning and the mental side of the game--the only two things an injured player can do, really--which should help him out now that heโs finally been cleared.
โI wouldnโt say Iโm behind as far as reps and just being in football shape and running, I would say Iโm there,โ McFadden said. โIโve been on top of my playbook, Iโve been up to par on everything so itโs just a matter of getting back out there and getting my feet back up under me good.โ
