Since he's taken over for Ron Washington as the Texas Rangers' interim manager and went 14-8 at the helm to end the season as baseball's hottest team, Tim Bogar has said all along the only job he was interested in was remaining with the Rangers in 2015.

While that might be true, it's also the natural thing for a guy in Bogar's spot to say.

Now, we're starting to get a chance to find out how much truth there was in that statement as other teams are beginning to show interest in Bogar. The Arizona Diamondbacks reportedly asked the Rangers for permission to discuss their vacancy with Bogar after the team fired Kirk Gibson in the closing days of the regular season.

It is still not known whether the Rangers will grant permission to speak to Bogar, who's seen as the odds on favorite to replace Washington on a full-time basis, although the Rangers have begun conducting interviews with other candidates, both internal and external.
