Brewers Continue to Discuss Lucroy Option

The Texas Rangers have been tied to Milwaukee catcher Jonathan Lucroy basically since before the winter meetings in December, and it's easy to see why.

The Rangers could stand to upgrade at catcher, and Lucroy is the best option out there — both on the free agent market and trade market. He's controlled for a few more years at a good price and would give the Rangers a big upgrade in production over the combo of Robinson Chirinos and Chris Gimenez — God love 'em.

The Rangers have continued to deny any serious interest due to the Brewers' big asking price in the way of prospects, and while that might be true, the Brewers are continuing to put word out that they're still shopping their star catcher while looking to rebuild.

If the Rangers could somehow get Lucroy for a package that doesn't include top prospects Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara and Dillon Tate, it'd be an enticing offer. If they could get away without including Lewis Brinson, then they'd almost certainly pull the trigger, but that might not be realistic from the Brewers' perspective.
