George Dunham, the Dallas Cowboys' public address announcer for the past twelve seasons, announced in mid-July that he would not be returning for a thirteenth, and that he had been notified of the change by none other than Uncle Jerry, himself.
A number of people wondered if the direct canning had anything to do with the team's new deal with 105.3 The Fan, to make them the Cowboys Radio Network's flagship station, replacing The Ticket--the station on which Jub Jub's show, Dunham & Miller broadcasts--after three years. It very well may have; but none of that matters, now.
Because, according to the Dallas Observer's Sportatorium Blog, Dunham's successor has been announced.
Jody Dean, a 35-year veteran of local broadcasting and currently the host of 98.7 KLUV's morning show, will take over in the PA booth for the inagural season at Cowboys Stadium.
A graduate of Abilene Chistian University, Dean served as executive producer of the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network from 1991-1994. (You know, back when the team won playoff games.)
Dean has won several awards, including an Emmy, for his work, which includes stints with KVIL (with local legend and mentor Ron Chapman), KRLD, KLIF-FM, and as an anchor with CBS-11.
