Justice Department officials say a 44-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to leaving a phone message threatening to blow up the Drug Enforcement Administration office in Laredo.
The building also is home to the Laredo office of the FBI, Homeland Security and other federal agencies.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson says Cristina Lara was arrested after the FBI tracked the February 2014 voicemail message to a phone in the reception area of the Laredo Medical Center. He says the area had a surveillance camera and videotape showed Lara using the phone at the time of the call to the DEA office.
Senior U.S. District Judge George P. Kazen allowed Lara to remain free on bond Thursday pending sentencing. She could get up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
