New ownership has reopened a Flower Mound wedding venue that abruptly shut down two weeks ago.
The owners of the building evicted Janice Orndorf-Falkenstein, the owner of Chapelle Des Fleur, leaving dozens of couples scrambling to find a new site for their weddings.
But the new owners of the wedding venue, Carrie Ehlert and her aunt, have been helping the couples get their weddings back on track.
"We will take the ball and run with it," Ehlert said. "They [the couples] are so happy when they are able to keep the venue, keep their date and go on with their special day."
Ehlert plans to change the name of the wedding venue.
Like many families, the Gettings lost their down payment -- more than $10,000 -- but were able to have the weddings with Ehlert's help. The Burkhardts and the Gettings walked their daughters down the aisle last weekend.
"It went off without a hitch," Greg Gettings said.
The latest news from around North Texas.
Sharla Burkhardt said she had been looking forward to her daughter's wedding before Chapelle Des Fleur closed 10 days before the big day.
"My daughter didn't have a bouquet," she said. "We had to find a florist, caterer, the building."
"They had been talking about getting married for quite a while," Burkhardt said. "You know how girls are -- the first time he mentioned marriage, she started planning things with her college roommate."
