Dallas police are searching for the person who stole a car with a 2-year-old child inside.
Officers were called to the 3300 block of Lancaster Road just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday for a child abduction, according to police spokeswoman Tamika Kimbrough.
A woman told police her car was taken when she left the engine running as she stepped into a nearby store, Kimbrough said. While the woman was inside, a person got into her car and drove off with the toddler inside.
The driver dropped off the baby in the 3500 block of Simpson Stuart Road, which is about a 15 minute drive away. The toddler appeared to be unharmed, police said.
Police continued to search for the driver Sunday evening. The person may be driving a 2010 Mitsubishi with a Texas license plate DN5-Y372.
The investigation was ongoing, and no charges were immediately filed, according to Kimbrough.
