A Texas woman accused of killing a pedestrian in a hit-and-run collision in the Atlanta suburbs, then making her getaway by carjacking two drivers and fleeing is scheduled to make her first court appearance Thursday.
Police said 43-year-old Kristie Renee Nesby was armed with a handgun and attempting to hijack a third vehicle Wednesday morning on a busy Atlanta thoroughfare when officers finally caught her.
Cobb County police officer Alicia Chilton said the roadway crime spree began at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday in suburban Cobb County, when Nesby's vehicle left the road and struck a woman walking on a sidewalk who later died.
Jail records list Nesby's address as Fresno, Texas, near Houston. It wasn't clear whether she has an attorney who could be reached for comment.
