Dallas Independent School District leaders are out with a new version of next year's budget which includes more than 1100 job cuts, including teachers.
Before state lawmakers issue the budget this summer, DISD came up with a preliminary plan that calls for the layoff of more than 270 teachers and more than 300 Pre-K assistants.
In the newly proposed plan, student-to-teacher ratios would increase from 25:1 to 27:1.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says he was hoping yesterday that state lawmakers would pass some bills to help with the budget crisis.
Republican lawmakers say they have two more weeks in the legislative session to try to get additional budget bills passed to help stabilize education funds.
