Luggage Search Puts Love Field On Alert

Police K9 unit flags suspicious luggage

Multiple passengers were affected by a security alert at Dallas' Love Field on Saturday evening.

Late Saturday, the Dallas police department tweeted the following:

On December 27, 2014, at about 4:00 PM, a Love Field K9 element was alerted to piece of luggage during their routine duties. For precautionary reasons, that area of the terminal was evacuated. The Department’s Explosive Ordinance Division responded to the scene.  After investigating the luggage, it was determined no explosives were found.

By 9:00 p.m., airport operations began returning to normal.

The object inside the luggage in question may be a paper weight according to authorities.

Dallas based Southwest Airlines sent NBCDFW the following statement:

We are working as quick as we can to minimize operational impacts due to a security situation that's currently being investigated at Dallas Love Field. Safety is and will always be our number one priority.
