A suspicious package found inside a Rowlett Wal-Mart Tuesday was not a threat, police say.
Officials confirm the Wal-Mart store located at 2501 Lakeview Parkway was evacuated as a precaution early in Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious package was found inside.
As employees and customers filed out of the store, officers arrived and strung yellow caution tape around the entrances.
Meanwhile, a bomb squad was called to investigate the package.
At about 1:30 p.m. the scene was cleared, the crime scene tape was removed and employees were allowed back in the store.
Police did not give any details about the package, but added that it did not appear to be part of a hoax or designed to cause any panic.
Though the package was determined to be harmless, officials reiterated that it's important for people to alert the authorities when they see something out of the ordinary.
