Dallas Fire-Rescue Department officials said a man was trying to change a tire when he was struck by a vehicle near U.S. Highway 175 and Silverado Drive Tuesday morning.
A witness told NBC 5 that he stopped to help an elderly couple fix the flat tire. He said he was placing a jack under the vehicle when it was struck. The vehicle also crashed into the witness's car before stopping.
The witness said the couple was knocked down and that he was hit slightly, sustaining a minor injury to his arm. The elderly man and the driver of the vehicle that crashed were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Police said the wreck also caused nearly 25 gallons of fuel to spill onto the road. Hazardous materials crews cleaned the spill.
