Mavericks Are NBA's Ninth Most Valuable Team

Forbes magazine says the Dallas Mavericks are worth $1.4 billion.

Mark Cuban bought the Dallas Mavericks in 2000 because he was a MFFL (Mavs Fan For Life) and just made a billion dollars by selling his business Broadcast.com.

Ross Perot, Jr. sold him the Mavericks for $280 million, then a record for a NBA club. He also purchased a 50 percent stake in the American Airlines Center.

Cuban was laughed at when he bought the Mavs for that record price because they had not made the playoffs for a decade. Now the Mavs are the ninth most valuable franchise in the NBA, according to Forbes.

Cuban is laughing now and also won the NBA championship in 2011 when Dallas beat the LeBron James-led Miami Heat in six games.
