Gallery Showcases Keller Teen's Comic Books

The world of fantasy and adventure created by a 14-year-old Keller teenager in comic books is featured at a Collin County art gallery.

While other teens may draw or sketch as a hobby Jake Tinsley spends his time developing a series of comic strips and books.

"I would doodle, I would write, I would do anything to pass the time," he said.

Jake and his father, Ben Tinsley, co-founded Wham Bang Comics. His collection of his work is on display at Orison's Art and Framing Gallery in McKinney.

"We really didn't have anything that would appeal to the youngsters until I put Jake's work in, and that's been a very good attribute to our gallery in general," said Howard Shaw, of Orison's Art and Framing.

Jake's father said his son continues to develop his own unique style.

"He stands by his craft, he shows interest, he looks up old DC comics, he tries to learn everything he can," he said.
