A 23-year-old Fort Worth woman who first said that her 10-month-old son died last year after falling off a bed has been arrested in his death after confessing to police.
Shakira Bickerstaff was arrested Tuesday on a capital murder warrant.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that according to an arrest warrant affidavit, she was arrested days after admitting to Fort Worth police that she shook her infant son, hit his head on a table and then covered his mouth to get him to stop crying in August 2014.
She remained in Mansfield jail Wednesday on $1 million bond. Jail records did not list an attorney.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office in May ruled Lamont's death a homicide caused by "battered infant syndrome."
