Garland police have made an arrest in the 2014 murder of 71-year-old Janet Vanderslice.
Vanderslice was found stabbed to death in her home Aug. 23, 2014 by her son who went to check on her after neighbors reported last seeing her alive the morning before.
Surveillance video taken from across the street of Vanderslice's home showed two people walking into, and then leaving, her residence.
The shorter person walking in front was identified by police as Vanderslice while the second person was identified as David Wade McDermett, a contractor known by Vanderslice.
Garland police said Wednesday that McDermett has been arrested and charged with the woman's murder and is being held in the Dallas County Jail.
At this time, investigators have revealed no further information or motive in the killing.
