A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally shooting a father of three during a 2013 home-invasion robbery in Amarillo.
Kenya Abdule Martin was sentenced Friday after a Potter County jury earlier convicted him of capital murder.
Prosecutors say Martin and two others broke into the home in May 2013 as the family slept. They say 26-year-old Edward Pendleton awoke to noises and went to investigate, before being shot twice by Martin.
Authorities say Martin then stood over Pendleton and shot him a third time.
The others involved in the home invasion are facing charges that include murder and aggravated robbery.
