A newly elected Houston-area mayor who says her victory meant voters wanted big changes is doing just that by changing the locks on city hall offices to emphasize her firing of three appointed city officials.
The actions by Galena Park Mayor Esmerelda Moya boots the police chief, city attorney and city administrator.
Four city commissioners also found keys to their offices no longer work, but Moya says they'll get new ones.
At least one of the three dismissed officials, city administrator Robert Pruitt, is not going quietly. He tells Houston television station KTRK the mayor can't order the firings without a vote of the commissioners and believes she may not have the votes.
Moya says her obligation is to the people who elected her.
