Man Who Tried To Buy Child For Sex Sentenced

A federal judge sentenced a Flower Mound man who attempted to buy a 9-year-old girl for sex to 10 years in federal prison, the maximum term.

Kevin Moake, 50, pleaded guilty in January to one count of possession of child pornography. He must also register as a sex offender and serve a lifetime of supervised release following his release from prison.

Moake admitted that on May 30, 2007, he drove to a Burger King restaurant on Mockingbird Lane near Love Field in Dallas to attempt to buy the girl for sex, according to court documents.

He gave the seller $100 to spend the night with the nonexistent child, with the cash representing a down payment in a “rent-to-own” plan.

Unknown to Moake -- the seller was really an undercover officer.

Moake was arrested on the spot and is presently facing charges in Dallas County related to this sting operation.  Moake’s federal sentence will run concurrent to any state sentence he receives.

Authorities said a laptop in his vehicle had more than 600 images of child pornography.
