Man Convicted for Repeatedly Raping Autistic Girl

A Texas man was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading no contest to raping an autistic girl for several years.

The San Antonio Express-News reported that a judge sentenced 29-year-old Jesus Herrera Tuesday. He was charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child, which is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. The Mexico native faces deportation after the prison sentence.

Police said Herrera raped the girl from when she was in eighth grade until she was 16 years old. They said a relative questioned her about a hickey on her neck that she had covered with a bandage in February 2013.

He entered the no-contest plea in May in exchange for a punishment cap of 14 years.
