Man Arrested in Serial Burglaries, Tool Thefts

A man suspected of breaking into vehicles in parked at home improvement stores throughout North Texas and stealing tools has been arrested.

Police in Balch Springs arrested the man outside of the Home Depot on the 12000 block of Elam Road on Wednesday.

Investigators linked him to several burglaries in Balch Springs as well as more than 20 in other parts of North Texas.

Police say he was known for burglarizing trucks and vans at Home Depot and Lowe's stores and stealing tools. In some cases, he made off with computer equipment.

"It's hard when they steal your whole tools," said Steve Allen, whose tools were stolen several years ago. "You have to start all over again. You have to feed your family with those tools."

Police have not yet released the man's name or mug shot because the investigation is still ongoing.

Investigators say any additional victims should call Balch Springs police.
