Fort Worth City Manager Dale Fisseler, who passed over interim police Chief Pat Kneblick to be permanent chief, has hired her to be his assistant at the same $154,480 salary.
Kneblick was a finalist to be Fort Worth's top cop, but Fisseler chose Jeff Halstead to be chief. He begins on Dec. 8th.
Kneblick's new job will be as Fisseler's executive assistant.
When asked if the new post is permanent, city spokesperson Cecilia Jacobs said, "I don't know how long it will be. The way it was couched was it's going to help with the transition of the new police chief."
The transition is expected to take 30-60 days.
"After that, I'm not sure if they'll talk again about what she'll do," Jacobs said.
Joe Paniagua, first assistant city manager who supervised the police and fire departments, recently announced he will retire. His salary was $206,003.
Jacobs said it's also not clear if the city will fill that position.
Kneblick was attending a police chiefs meeting in San Diego Thursday and couldn't be reached for comment.
