Fletcher's Original State Fair Corny Dog will celebrate its 75th anniversary this year by giving away free corny dogs every Friday to the first 75 customers.
The event kicks off on opening day at 10 a.m. when the first 75 people at any of the seven Fletcher's concession stands will get a free corny dog. The anniversary celebration will continue every Friday during the fair.
The Fletcher's family also has several other events planned throughout the fair to celebrate their anniversary. Those events will be announced on the Fletcher's Facebook page and Twitter account.
The Fletcher's Corny Dog was first introduced at the State Fair of Texas back in 1942 when Neil and Carl Fletcher opened their first concession stand on the Midway. During that first year, they actually gave away bite-sized samples to introduce people to their new invention.
During the 2016 State Fair of Texas, the Fletcher's family sold more than 600,000 corny dogs over 24 days.
The State Fair of Texas runs Friday September 29 through Sunday October 22. Exhibits and concession stands are open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday - Thursday and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
