Obstacle Course 5K, Plus…

Obstacle Course 5K: Put on a gorilla mask, Big Bird costume, fairy wings and/or a clown nose, and take some friends to the Winter Pineapple Classic, benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This 5K will challenge you to climb over walls, crawl on all fours and other ridiculous tasks in order to get to the beer garden and luau at the end of the race. The cost is $60 for individuals, $105 for a two person team and $185 for a four person team. This includes a long sleeve tee, pass for a free meal at the after party and free beer. Bring a change of clothes and shoes. Double D Ranch, Mesquite. Online registration is closed, but you can sign up tomorrow at 9 a.m.

The New Party: Ever since the DJ group, The Party, split up we’ve been missing a little shimmy in our shoes, and beats in our boomboxes. Thankfully, DJ Sober is back to serve up a new crew sure to step in where The Party left off. Enter It Starts Here, an almost weekly event with the newest kids on the block—Sober, J.T. Mudd (of the band Ishi) and A-1. Dance to indie, hip hop and rock on the first, second and third Fridays of the month. Bar Celine (Behind Park restaurant), 10 p.m.

From Denton To Dallas: Listen to Sarah Jaffe represent the vibrant Denton music scene tonight at The Loft. Her raw indie/folk style of music and intimate songs are led by an acoustic guitar with an occasional visit from an accordion and fiddle. The Loft at Gilley’s Complex, $12, Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
