Woman Left Children Alone, Returned Hours Later With Half a Bottle of Jose Cuervo, Dallas Police Say

A southeast Dallas woman left her two young children — one of whom uses a feeding tube — home alone for hours while she went shopping on her birthday, police say.Rodneika Hornage, 25, was arrested Saturday on two counts of abandoning or endangering a child with intent to return.A neighbor at the Ridge at Trinity Apartments in the 7200 block of South Great Trinity Forest Way called police around 3:30 p.m. Saturday and told responding officers that two children were alone in the apartment, including one with special needs. The neighbor said the children's mother had been gone for several hours, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.Police could hear a child inside the apartment and knocked on the door, but no one answered, so firefighters decided to force the door open.   Continue reading...
