Oak Cliff's Wynnewood Village Shopping Center Can Check Off One Step Towards Redevelopment

A small amount of the $1.05 billion bond package approved by Dallas voters Tuesday will go a long way to getting one of the city's oldest shopping centers prepped for a renovation.The bond package, which will repair city streets and add parks, included $1.73 million in flood control and storm drainage improvements around Wynnewood Village in North Oak Cliff.There's also money for street resurfacing and connecting of the Elmwood Trail about a mile east to Wynnewood, said Dallas City Councilman Scott Griggs whose district includes the shopping center. The plan is to make Wynnewood more accessible to Dart stations.In August, Brixmor Property Group said it plans to update the 443,681-square-foot shopping center and bring in new tenants plus a theater and fitness center.A Brixmor spokeswoman said there are no updates yet, but the company expects to have new tenant names to announce early next year.  Continue reading...
