More Guilty Pleas in Lab Fraud That Paid Soldiers Walmart Gift Cards for Saliva, Urine

Two remaining defendants in a $36 million fraud scheme have admitted to participating in the collection of unnecessary lab tests of saliva and urine that were billed to the U.S. military’s health care system, according to plea documents in the case.Jody Sheffield and Erik Bugen, of Travis County, filed court papers last week agreeing to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud.A judge will have to formally accept the guilty pleas before they become official.
