Man Dies of Self-inflicted Gunshot Wound After Traffic Stop, Standoff in Duncanville

A man apparently took his own life after a traffic stop and two-hours-long standoff in Duncanville on Monday night.A drone was deployed to evaluate the vehicle, which had pulled into a car dealership parking lot around 9:30 p.m. in the 800 block of East Camp Wisdom Road, a Dallas County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.When the drone detected no movement inside, Duncanville SWAT officers approached and found the man dead, sheriff's department spokesman Raul Reyna said.A Duncanville officer had pulled the man over for a traffic stop and noticed a gun sitting between the man's legs, Reyna said. The officer backed off and called for backup, then the standoff began.DeSoto police, who deployed the drone, assisted Duncanville police and SWAT officers, Reyna said.No shots were fired by any officers at the scene, Reyna said.The man's name has not been released.
