Here's Your Chance to Run Southern Skates, the Roller Rink Dallas Never Wanted

If operating a skating rink sounds like your cup of roller boogie, the city of Dallas is looking to hand over the keys to a slightly used, in-the-process-of-being-updated joint on East Ledbetter Drive — Southern Skates, which the city tried to offload a decade ago till the feds and then once-and-current council member Dwaine Caraway raised a stink over a proposed sale. This go-round the city's not looking for a buyer, just an operator — someone to flip on the lights, rent out the roller skates and keep the place open on the days and nights when it's currently closed.Cue the Vaughan Mason & Crew 1980 hit "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll.""And I am in total support," Caraway said a few days before his fifth swearing-in as southern Oak Cliff's rep at the horseshoe.
