Fire at West Dallas Recycling Plant Could Burn Through Night

A pile of metal was still burning Monday night at a West Dallas recycling plant more than five hours after the fire began, fire officials said. Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were dispatched at 3 p.m. to Sunshine Recycling in the 2000 block of Ruder Street, and were still battling the fire at 8:30 p.m., spokesman Jason Evans said. There have been no reported injuries.In addition to streams of water, firefighters are digging out the the pile of metal that is made up of vehicles, appliances and other items, to expose the hot spots, Evans said."A lot of work still has to be done, and they expect to continue their efforts into the morning hours," he said.
