Embattled VisitDallas CEO Phillip Jones Is Out, Per ‘mutual Decision' With Board

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.Embattled VisitDallas president and CEO Phillip Jones is stepping down from that position immediately.VisitDallas, the city's re-branded convention-and-visitors bureau, announced Jones' resignation Wednesday evening in a news release. Jones' parting, the release said, was "a mutual decision" reached during a board meeting earlier in the day.Jones' departure comes four months after a City Hall audit -- "scathing," council member Lee Kleinman called it at the time -- that said the city has no way of knowing whether the entity tasked with promoting and marketing the city to outsiders is spending tens of millions of tax dollars wisely or properly.
