Football “Bible” Drops on Monday

Football fans across the state of Texas await what will happen on Monday for months -- the arrival of the annual Dave Campbell's Texas Football on newsstands.

The stalwart of Texas football, including professional football, college football and most importantly, high school football, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary when the newest edition hits newsstands next week, giving fans reading material for months to come.

Known as "the Bible of Texas high school football", the magazine breaks down every district in the state from Six-Man to 5A, including returning starters, players to watch and gives predictions on how each district will shape up.

There's always hits and misses every year. It just comes with the territory of making predictions. Many of mine will be showing up here in the coming weeks after I return from a brief vacation to Boston and Cape Cod (Fenway, what up!??!?).

I'll go ahead and make these predictions that I'm guessing the magazine will throw out there:

State champions:

Class 5A Division I - Allen
Class 5A Division II - Katy
Class 4A Division I - Longview

Another mystery is who will be on the cover. It's the 50th anniversary so there might be some retrospective cover planned, but the safe bet would be to guess something that involves Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, who's definitely the most recognizable, marketable player in the state. That's my guess.

Happy reading!
