Lovie Smith Thinks Rod Marinelli Will Thrive in Dallas

Marinelli will take over as defensive coordinator this season

New Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith has worked with new Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, and he believes Marinelli can take Dallas out of the gutter they dwelled in a year ago.

I just know what he brings to the table,” Smith said, per ESPN Dallas. “Same guy each day, fundamentals will be strong. It’s not going to be high and low. Consistency with the message. Clarity with what he wants. He’s got a system of guys doing it a certain way. You just look at the track record. I don’t know the exact personnel he’s working with but I know he’ll bring out the maximum in them.”

Smith wanted Marinelli to come to Tampa with him, but he opted to stay in Dallas.
