Jenkins Named Starting Right Corner

Almost three months to the day Mike Jenkins published a blog post on his official website declaring himself the starter opposite Terence Newman, he's finally right--at least, for this week.

Todd Archer of The Dallas Morning News reports that Jenkins has been named starter for Sunday's game in Denver against the 3-0 Broncos, and possibly beyond. Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick, with whom he was battling for the right cornerback spot through camp, began the season rotating starts.

However, after two solid starts by Jenkins and one less-than-solid-start by Scandrick, the USF product Jenkins was given the starting nod for week four, which, per the rotation, would've belonged to Scandrick.

"I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing," Jenkins said in the DMN post. "Keep the same mentality and go out there and play."

Interestingly enough, Scandrick--who maintained his friendship with Jenkins throughout the battle, even going so far as to accuse the media of trying to "destroy the team"--told Jenkins the news.
