FC Dallas has signed 21-year-old midfielder Brek Shea to a contract extension through the 2015 season.
In eight starts this season, Shea has two goals and an assist. He had five goals and four assists in 25 regular-season games last year for FC Dallas.
Shea was only 17 when he was the second overall pick by Dallas in the 2008 MLS draft.
Team president Doug Quinn said Thursday that Shea is a fan favorite and will continue to be "an important face" for FC Dallas on and off the field.
Shea began this year on the left side of midfield with the U.S. national team. Last November, he was the first player born in the 1990s to earn a cap with the national team.
