Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker has withdrawn his name from consideration to be Donald Trump’s running mate, NBC News confirmed Wednesday.
NBC News reported Tuesday night that Corker submitted vetting materials to the Trump campaign as a formal consideration for the role.
Corker interviewed with Trump’s campaign Tuesday, traveled with the presumptive nominee on his aircraft, met with aides and appeared with him at a Raleigh, North Carolina, rally.
But a senior aide confirmed Corker’s decision to NBC News, after The Washington Post first reported that the senator withdrew his name. Corker said he believed he was "suited for other types of things."
