Steve Harvey Mentors Hundreds of Young Men

Television personality Steve Harvey says that many young men who grow up without father figures don't have a chance in life.

"A boy without a male role model is like an explorer without a map," he said. "Manhood is too hard to figure on your own."

For the seventh consecutive year, Harvey will host nearly 100 such youths from across the country at his family ranch in Little Elm June 13-14. The young men will spend the weekend fishing, being active and, more importantly, learning valuable lessons from Harvey.

The boys' mothers also visit the ranch, but they attend a different camp where they learn more about raising men from Harvey, who gives insight as a man who grew up without a dad.

NBC 5's Brian Scott contributed to this report.
