Powerball Fever Spreads as Jackpot Tops $310 Million

Winning numbers in Wednesday's drawing were 21-39-40-55-59, Powerball: 17

UPDATE: The winning numbers in Wednesday evening's Powerball drawing were 21-39-40-55-59, Powerball: 17.  A single winner won the estimated $310.5 million jackpot on a ticket bought in Michigan.

Have you ever thought about what you might do with an extra $310 million in your bank account? Many people across North Texas have some ideas – and they're buying up Powerball tickets in hopes of making it happen.

Wednesday's jackpot is the largest since February, prompting infrequent players like Rosanna Sandlin to get in the game.

"Well it is up to over $300 million and it's been a long time since I've purchased [a ticket]," said Sandlin, who lives in Arlington. "So I thought, 'Hey – maybe today is my lucky day.'"

Sandlin hopes her decision to buy her ticket at the QuikTrip station on North Cooper Street pays off.

The store sold a Powerball ticket worth $1 million back in 2013.

"I hope [it brings me extra luck]. I hope so," said Sandlin. "Any amount would work."

Arlington has a decent track record with Powerball. Winners have gone home with $1 million checks each of the last two years.

Sandlin is keeping her fingers crossed she keeps the streak alive.

"If I won, I would help my family in the ways we might be needed," said Sandlin. "I belong to a Dallas Rotary Club and I would probably donate some money there."
