Police Blotter: Man Shot And Dragged

Here's a list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 18, 2011.

Crash Slows Traffic on DNT
A multi-vehicle crash near Keller Springs and the Dallas North Tollway at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday has slowed traffic in the area. Officials said two vehicles struck a light pole, which then fell and hit other cars. No one is believed to have been seriously injured in the crash. Both sides of the highway were closed for a short time before being reopened at 1:10 p.m.

Man Shot, Dragged
A man was shot three times in the parking lot of Infiniti Lounge Bar & Grill Thursday morning. When Dallas police arrived at the bar, located at 2929 North Buckner Boulevard, they found the 20-something lying near the street in the driveway. Witnesses told officers the victim got into a confrontation with four men in an SUV. He was shot by one of the men, and then run over and dragged about 100 feet by the SUV with all four men inside. Paramedics took the victim to Baylor in serious condition.

Burglar Caught In Act, Choked
A burglar who was caught in the act of robbing a home Wednesday afternoon is dead. The 27-year-old man was placed in a choke hold by two male family members who found the suspect holding one of the family's television sets, according to the Star Telegram. Police are awaiting his autopsy results before proceeding with the investigation, said Sgt. Pedro Criado, a police spokesman. Tarrant County Medical Examiner records indicate Jackson lived in the same block where the alleged burglary occurred.

Dead Body Found in Shed
Wise County investigators found a dead body wrapped in a tarp in a shed behind a home on County Road 3332 near the intersection of County Road 3225 between Bridgeport and Paradise. A 15-year-old and an older male who were found living on the property were detained for questioning, but were not charged. It’s unknown when the body was placed in the shed, and the deceased has not been identified.
