School children in the tornado-devastated town of Joplin, Mo., will get new school supplies thanks to kids in North Texas.

Several schools in Lewisville collected supplies for students in Joplin.

The movement started at Highland Village Elementary, according to the Flower Mound Leader, but quickly spread to other schools in the district.

Six of Joplin's 19 public schools were damaged in the May tornado that killed 116 people.
