Officers were called at about 5:17 p.m. to the 8400 block of Skillman Street, where they said a woman was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

The woman, identified as 56-year-old Patricia Corbin, was transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Police said a witness who was in the apartment at the time of the shooting said Corbin and the alleged gunman, Norbert Lewis, 25, had been arguing over the purchase of drugs.

The witness said after Lewis allegedly shot Corbin, he turned to the witness and fired a shot just as the witness tossed hot water on Lewis. The witness was not struck, and Lewis ran from the apartment, police said.

Lewis was arrested a short time later, and booked on charges of murder and aggravated assault. He remains jailed in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
