Cabela's presented Tarrant County College with a $20,000 check to the "Stars of Tomorrow" Fund Thursday, providing financial awards to graduating high school seniors.

The $20,000 gift is part of a $50,000 endowment given over time by Cabela's beginning in 2004.

"Stars of Tomorrow" award recipients, who must be residents of Tarrant County and ranked in the top half of their class, can earn up to $4,000 over a maximum of six semesters as part of the program that is a "package" comprised of state and federal financial aid, income from the leasing of mineral rights, corporate contributors, and other private sources.

Recently, TCC also raised the family income threshold for "Stars of Tomorrow" by $20,000 in each of the eight categories of eligibility making hundreds more high school seniors eligible for the award.
