Plano Confirms Positive West Nile Sample

The city of Plano says they'll take further steps to reduce the number of mosquitoes in the city after a recent trap tested positive for West Nile virus.

The positive mosquito sample was collected in the area south of 14th Street between Shiloh Road and Park Vista, the city said in a news release Tuesday.

The city said they'll take several steps, including ground spraying and applying larvicide, to curtail the growth of the mosquito population in the affected area.

Officials have not yet said when they'll be spraying, but that residents would be notified by the city's Blackboard Connect System.
