Bob Nightengale of USA Today, one of the most respected baseball writers in the country, recently had a story about the Rangers and their ever-growing stranglehold on the game of baseball.

After all, the Rangers have two straight AL pennants and seem set to win more with the big-league club they have in Arlington right now.

But there's more guys waiting. Ever since Jon Daniels has been the GM of the Rangers, the team has had one of the top farm systems in baseball, and that hasn't changed even though they've traded some of their young prospects away in recent years.

Nightengale says the Rangers' farm is full of "high-ceiling" guys, which bodes well for the future of the franchise.

Nightengale ranked the top 5 guys in the Rangers' system, and that doesn't include the 25-year-old Yu Darvish, who will be the Rangers' No. 2 or No. 3 starter come April.

He ranks them like this: SS Jurickson Profar, LHP Martin Perez, CF Leonys Martin, RHP Neil Ramirez, 3B/1B Mike Olt.

Martin and Perez could hit the bigs this coming year, while the other three are likely a year or two away.
