Hamilton's HR Bat Going on Display, Then to Cooperstown

"She died a hero," Hamilton says of his bat

Texas slugger Josh Hamilton's big bat is done -- and headed to baseball's Hall of Fame.  But first, it'll make a one night appearance at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The bat Hamilton used to hit eight of his nine home runs during the last week cracked on an RBI single in the seventh inning of a 13-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday night.  With the bat, Hamilton became the third player in MLB history to hit nine home runs and 15 RBI in a six-game span.

Hamilton says of his bat: "She died a hero."

Fans can have their picture taken with the hero Monday night for $5 with the money going to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.  After that, the bat will be sent to Cooperstown.

Fans who want their photo should head to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation kiosk on the Third Base Concorse near Section 13 and the Third Base Escalator until 8:30 p.m.  Fans should bring their own camera, but if they forget the FanFoto photographer can take their photo.

Last note, you will not be able to pick up the bat ... just stand next to it and smile.
