Flags at Half-Staff at Ballpark for Shannon Stone

Prior to the start of Friday night's game agains the Oakland Athletics, the Texas Rangers will observe a moment of silence for the fan who died Thursday after falling while trying to catch a ball.

Shannon Stone, a firefighter out of Brownwood, was attending Thursday's game with his son when he reached out beyond the railing to catch a ball lobbed into the stands by Josh Hamilton.  Stone apparently reached too far, lost his balance and fell behind the left-field wall to the ground below.

Stone was conscious and talking after the fall, but later died at John Peter Smith hospital after suffering cardiac arrest in the ambulance.

In addition to Friday's moment of silence, all of the flags at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington have been lowered to half-staff.

On Friday afternoon, Nolan Ryan will be holding a press conference to further discuss Thursday's tragedy. We hope to be able to bring you that news conference live on NBCDFW.com.
